Got Milk, Got Disease – Dr. McDougall

The British Medical Journal reported in the news on October 29, 2014 on “Milk intake and risk of mortality and fractures in women and men: cohort studies.” This observational study found higher death rates for men and women who drank 3 or more glasses of milk daily, compared to less than a glass a day. There were also more fractures in general, and hip fractures, in the higher milk-consuming women. The researchers from Sweden focused on the milk sugar, D-galactose, as the trouble causer. They believe that oxidative stress and inflammation all over the body is caused by D-galactose.

Indian couple win $200,000 payout for ‘food racism’ after college told them to stop microwaving pungent curry lunches in office

[I find this funny because I love this type of food (Indian, Asian, Moroccan, Ethiopian, cruciferous veggies like broccoli, cabbage, sauerkraut… many, many others) and I also experience “food odor complaints” when I heat it, but never considered it racism. I also wonder why they settled a racism case for only $200,000? ]

When someone told him broccoli would also be inappropriate in a microwave, Prakash shot back: ‘How many groups of people do you know that face racism on a daily basis because they eat broccoli?’
