Dr. Dhand says, “Hundreds of millions across the western world, young people are going to face an absolute metabolic catastrophe in the next ten to 20 years; pre-diabetes, type-2 diabetes, heart disease, other inflammation. These are at levels unprecedented.”
He reminds us that every ancient civilization (think Greek, Roman, ancient Egyptians) valued strength and health. Look at their statues, their paintings. They knew it was important to be in the best shape as possible.
There is a deep cultural reason that we do not care about such ideals any longer. It takes years to get to the level of obesity we are seeing in 30-something year olds. You cannot consume 4,000 calories a day and not expect these unhealthy consequences.
We need more than simply banning food dyes. We need a complete cultural change!

Delightful comment from 96 year old reader w/ good advice for us young-ones;
I am 95, soon to be 96. I agree with everything you say, dear young man. I eat as much plant based food as l can & exercise twice daily. I honesty believe that’s why l am still here. I do sin on occasion. Yesterday l had pizza at our local senior center, but today I am back on track. I try sometimes to mention things to others about eating good food. It’s an uphill battle. So many people who are surprised at my age ask what is my secret (haha).
* First, I say, it is what you put in your mouth. Very important.
* Next, I say, if you don’t use it you lose it. MOVE, exercise!
