Thomas Colin Campbell is an American biochemist who specializes in the effect of nutrition on long-term health. He is the Jacob Gould Schurman Professor Emeritus of Nutritional Biochemistry at Cornell University.
Campbell has become known for his advocacy of a low-fat, whole foods, plant-based diet.
He sat down with us to discuss how the concept of nutrition, for more than two centuries, has been fundamentally flawed. It is possible to trace its origin to a far earlier time by comparing cave art before and after the last Ice Age. Two events, the 1839 discovery of protein and the Age of Micronutrient Discovery (1920s-1930s), although informative, were cataclysmic. Hundreds of millions of lives were prematurely cut short by ignoring these events. We now are destroying our planet for the same reason.
