T. Colin Campbell Presents: Nutrition Forsaken, For Two Centuries

Jan 22, 2021

Thomas Colin Campbell is an American biochemist who specializes in the effect of nutrition on long-term health. He is the Jacob Gould Schurman Professor Emeritus of Nutritional Biochemistry at Cornell University.

Campbell has become known for his advocacy of a low-fat, whole foods, plant-based diet.

He sat down with us to discuss how the concept of nutrition, for more than two centuries, has been fundamentally flawed. It is possible to trace its origin to a far earlier time by comparing cave art before and after the last Ice Age. Two events, the 1839 discovery of protein and the Age of Micronutrient Discovery (1920s-1930s), although informative, were cataclysmic. Hundreds of millions of lives were prematurely cut short by ignoring these events. We now are destroying our planet for the same reason.

Probiotic Pills: Usually Harmful, Sometimes Fatal

Want to be healthier? Forget the Mediterranean diet, eat like an East African

[ Ed: This is also called the McDougall diet! ]

These findings, published in Nature Medicine, suggest that even just two weeks on the Kilimanjaro heritage diet – one rich in vegetables, whole grains, beans, dietary fibre and fermented foods, as the Chagga people of northern Tanzania eat – reduces inflammation and offers benefits to both immunity and metabolism.
