Friday Favorites: Kids’ Breakfast Cereals as Nutritional Façade

Aug 11, 2023

Plastering front-of-package nutrient claims on cereal boxes is an attempt to distract from the incongruity of feeding our children multicolored marshmallows for breakfast.

I was invited to testify as an expert witness in a case against sugary cereal companies (donating my fee, of course), and this extended video series is a result of some of the research I did into those cases. Here are some of the others:

A Soda-A-Day Could Result In Liver Cancer; New Study Finds

Aug 9, 2023

DRINK MORE WATER…

Researchers from Brigham and Women’s Hospital, a founding member of the Mass General Brigham healthcare system, published a study titled “Sugar-Sweetened and Artificially Sweetened Beverages and Risk of Liver Cancer and Chronic Liver Disease Mortality” in the Journal of the American Medical Association on Tuesday, explaining a possible link between the regular consumption of sweetened drinks and death due to liver cancer. The study involved nearly 100,000 postmenopausal women followed for a median of twenty years.

I’m my fittest at 46 and this is my secret weapon for a flat stomach and muscles that don’t ‘sag’ – and the two diet rules I swear by

The only answer to fix saggy muscles, bad posture, and soreness after sitting is weight training,’ she said.

‘Your body requires regular maintenance for optimal health. It’s especially important to build and maintain strong muscles, as one’s risk of bone loss and fractures increases with age.’

You can build new muscle tissue by performing resistance training and getting a sufficient amount of protein and nutrients.

[Cmmt: protein does not need to be animal-derived.]

Risky! Walking downstairs is more dangerous for young women than others for key reasons, said study

Aug 4, 2023

[Editor: Not only young women, I can attest to that!] 🙂

After analyzing 2,400 young adults, either on the short staircase (52% of whom were women) or the long staircase (29% of whom were women), the researchers discovered eight risky behaviors that the young people practiced:

  1. not using a handrail
  2. not watching the stairs while descending
  3. wearing sandals, flip-flops or high heels
  4. having a conversation with another person or on a smartphone
  5. using an electronic device
  6. keeping hands in pockets
  7. holding something
  8. skipping steps

Four men lost their balance on the long staircase, while one woman did so on the short staircase, but all recovered.

Covid Lockdown & U.S. War Machine Is Killing The U.S. Middle Class

Aug 1, 2023

What can American politicians do to restore the middle class in this country? The first step, says Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., is to stop warmongering all over the globe, spending countless billions on weaponry, building military bases and “flexing our muscle” in every corner of the planet.

Jimmy talks to RFK Jr. about where the $800+ billion a year in “defense” spending could better be spent.
