Study suggest that cataracts increase the risk of dementia through vascular and non-AD mechanisms; treating or preventing cataracts may reduce dementia risk.

[ED: Or may it be that poor blood flow is a common factor in BOTH cataracts & dementia? It is often said that cardio vascular disease is systemic, thus such a theory seems potentially valid.]
