Does regular citrus pectin have the same effect?
Regrettably, we did not discuss this in the interview. Here’s the answer. Pectin is a type of fiber, a long chain of carbohydrates, that stays in the gut. Modified citrus pectin is reduced to a much lower molecular weight, up to 100 times smaller, which allows it to pass into the bloodstream and bind to galectin-3. Some modified citrus pectin products on the market are not produced correctly and are not absorbed into the bloodstream. Econugenics Pectasol has been proven to do so and is the gold standard product, tested for over 25 years in 75+ clinical and pre-clinical studies.
