Neuroscientist Andrew Huberman explains the wild effects of nasal breathing as compared to mouth breathing. There is an immense amount of research now showing how facial structure and sleep quality is positively affected by simply breathing through your mouth as opposed to breathing from your mouth.
In addition to simply nose breathing, doing things like taping your mouth during sleep and eating foods that challenge your jaw muscles, will also help to provide a better looking jaw and face shape. A majority of the people in first world countries nowadays don’t have straight teeth and have underdeveloped jaws. This is thought to be a result of lack of nasal breathing, lack of real foods to work our jaws, and increased poor nutrition in people’s diets.
Andrew Huberman is an American neuroscientist and associate professor in the Department of Neurobiology at the Stanford University School of Medicine who has made many contributions to the brain development, brain plasticity, and neural regeneration and repair fields.
