I just happened upon this article. It is intriguing to me that women, as they age, are finding themselves unfulfilled in their successful careers. They sacrificed their fertility for the status they now enjoy. Some (not all) have begun to mourn their loss.
My career came later in life. I struggled mightily for it in so many ways. Early adulthood was very difficult, but the absolute best decision I ever made was making my children my priority… and pursuing a career secondarily. I thank my mother for the superior example she set for me – an example of pure, unselfish love.
Sharing one’s life with biological children is only one way to share love. There are so many lonely others out there in need of your heart. Don’t forget them. They will become a family to you.
Specific foods have been shown in randomized controlled trials to improve menopause symptoms like hot flashes. I’ll have much more to say in my upcoming book How Not to Age (out in 2023), but, for now, you may be interested in How Did Doctors Not Know About the Risks of Hormone Therapy? Sleep apnea is a condition where you repeatedly stop breathing during sleep. Six million Americans have a diagnosis of sleep apnea, but another 25 million or more may be struggling undiagnosed. Sleep apnea is also becoming more prevalent among children
Snoring is a related problem, caused by a restriction in your airway stemming from either your throat or nasal passageway, and typically precedes more severe sleep apnea by several years
Lack of breastfeeding, the preponderance of processed food — which has predisposed several generations to a combination of obesity, malformed mouths and unnaturally small airways — and rampant vitamin D deficiency from lack of sun exposure appear to be primary causative factors for the steady rise in sleep apnea
One of the most frequently used treatments is a continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machine, which straps around your face and uses mild air pressure to keep your airways open while you sleep. However, CPAP does not address any of the potential underlying causes of sleep apnea
Better solutions include oral devices that correct your tongue or jaw position, and oral myofunctional therapy, a form of facial muscle therapy that helps reshape your oral cavity and promote proper placement of your tongue, head and neck
Common Causes for Sleep Apnea
The most frequently cited cause for sleep apnea in adults is obesity, which contributes by putting excess pressure on your upper airways, resulting in collapse and decreased neuromuscular control. As explained by Obesity Medicine:12
“Neck circumference, waist circumference, and waist-to-hip ratio are also considerations when addressing overweight or obesity and suspecting sleep apnea. Neck circumference greater than 17 inches for men and 16 inches for women raise the risk of both obesity and sleep apnea.
Waist measurements equal to or greater than 40 inches in men and 35 inches in women also raise the risk factor. Waist-to-hip ratio can also be calculated to assess for additional risk equivalent.
This ratio is determined by dividing the waist measurement by the hip measurement. The greater this ratio, the more significant the risk factors for sleep apnea and other obesity-related disorders …
Weight loss has been found to reduce the severity of sleep apnea as well as the development of the disorder. Overweight and obesity remain the most important modifiable causes of sleep apnea.”
Xylitol is a type of carbohydrate called a sugar alcohol, or polyol.
Xylitol occurs naturally in many fruits and vegetables. It is also commercially produced from birch bark and corn cob for use as a sweetener.
Xylitol is a common ingredient in sugar-free chewing gum.
Xylitol safety is confirmed by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the World Health Organization.
Xylitol is known to inhibit the growth of oral bacteria (mutans streptococci) in plaque and saliva.
Xylitol is found naturally in fruits and vegetables like strawberries, raspberries, mushrooms and cauliflower. It’s also found in other plants and agricultural materials like birch bark and corn husks, which are the sources of commercially made xylitol that are added to chewable multivitamins, gum drops, hard candies, sugar-free chewing gum and pharmaceuticals. It is also found in oral health products such as breath mints, throat lozenges and cough syrups.
Hello readers! Today, April 29th, 2017, I have done an experiment on various different waters purchased from the store, water from the tap, as well as water that has been treated using a One Water Systems machine.
Here we have:
Arrowhead
Smart Water
Nestle Pure Life
Dasani
Fiji
Core Hydration
Aquafina
Evian
Life Wtr
Voss
One Water Systems
Tap Water
I will be putting the water through 4 different tests. There will be a pH Test, Chlorine Test, Hardness Test, and Taste Test. There will not be any bias going into these tests and will just have the information presented as I have gathered it
Very interesting list of plant-based opinions on the c19 vaccine. Most interesting are those who previously questioned vaccines, but acquiesced to this (untested) one. Nevertheless, the choice was theirs alone.
In this list Nutritional Biochemist Dr. T. Colin Campbell and Cardiologist Dr. Baxter Montgomery strike me as most informative, rational, clear thinking. A shout-out also to Cardiologist Dr. Joel Kahn.
We humans lost a big chunk of our common sense these past 3 1/2 years. We stopped reasoning through issues & proceeded based solely upon our fear & emotions. I do not mean to imply I was immune, I was not! It has been a real eye-opener for me.
I vehemently support free personal choice when it comes to faith, politics, medicine, diet, etc. My disappointment has evolved in the revelation that even the most educated among us refused to question & research the “facts” around covid – both the virus & the vaccine. So what else are we embracing without question? Why has inquiry become taboo? (That’s a good question for journalists. They are an embarrassment to their profession, as so many physicians & research scientists have become.)
Suffice to say, I have learned more about human nature in these past few years than I had in a lifetime. The disappointment makes me feel old & tired like an elderly woman. But I am not old. I am like a newborn kitten whose eyes are finally becoming open & clear.

Satchidananda (Satchin) Panda, PhD is a Professor at the Salk Institute in California, where he conducts critical research on the circadian regulation of behaviour, physiology, and metabolism. His discoveries include identifying the role of blue-light sensing cells in the retina, which influence our primary circadian clock, mood, and the production of the sleep hormone melatonin. Additionally, Dr Panda’s work on time-restricted feeding (TRF) has highlighted its potential in preventing and reversing metabolic diseases. Among his accolades are the Julie Martin Mid-Career Award in Aging Research and the Dana Foundation Award in Brain and Immune System Imaging. With a strong foundation in research, Dr Panda brings a wealth of knowledge to our discussion on circadian rhythms.
Specifically, we discuss:
